Description

Was lazing around and noticed a pretty cool contest for Mega evos, and since I was already planning to upload a Mega soon anyway I whipped up MEGA DUSKNOIR, a mega evo for my all-time fav Ghost-type Dusknoir! And went all-out too :D used the official Mega Blaziken Evolution art as a reference.

 

One big reason also, for this mega evo is that Dusknoir is total crap competitively, even as the final evo of a chain-- it's actually in a lower tier than Dusclops :icongaspplz:, with extreme shit HP and speed. So I thought, why not bring one of my favorite pokes back into the spotlight?

MEGA DUSKNOIR

Ability: Spirit Guard Dusknoir is damaged 1/2 by all direct attacks(i.e. full damage only comes from entry hazards, recoil, status, etc).

Mega Evolves from Dusknoir when holding Dusknoirite

Using its now horrifyingly high spiritual energy, Mega Dusknoir grips its targets with invisible claws, pulling them into the Spirit World. Mega Dusknoir's power prevents all but the strongest attacks form damaging it.

 

Here are the base stat changes for Dusknoir when it MEs:

HP: 45--> 45

ATK: 100--> 130

DEF: 135--> 175

SpATK: 65--> 55

SpDEF: 135 --> 175

Speed: 45--> 45

 

Of course, coupled with its good defenses Dusknoir becomes a complete monster... however, due to its still abysmal HP, it needs to stay on its guard. even with its ridiculously boosted Special Defense it is basically destroyed by Sing, Toxic, and Will-O-Wisp users, along with any absurdly powerful mons (read: Talonflame. Its shallow movepool becomes a bit alleviated by its now boosted Attack, which gives it a slight advantage over some other Ghosties, and it has gained some recovery besides Pain Split with a new move, Sacrifice (stats are lowered in exchange for full HP) allowing it to survive a bit longer against most attackers with its monstrous Defensive stats. It is viable as a respectably powerful, yet often unexpected physical sweeper-- Baton Pass Speed Boost + Swords Dance Scolipede/ or Blaziken can raise its Attack to atrocious levels and give its Speed a leg up, allowing it to Ice/Thunderpunch out everything in existence.

 

Ultimate counter: Aegislash. Its Shadow Sneak will blow Dusknoir out of the water.

 

Dusknoir would become pretty predictable though as it has few usable moves and even fewer good sets, and with the Mega out everyone would know what kind of set you would be using the moment they see a dusknoir in your party. :P But oh well.
